On the Google I/O stage, Sundar Pichai shows a demo: a conversation with the planet Pluto and with a paper airplane. Behind it is LaMDA, a Google language model designed specifically for dialogue.
Unlike GPT-3, which is general-purpose, LaMDA is tuned for natural, coherent, "sensible" and "specific" dialogue. Pichai also talks about risks and says the model isn't ready for the public.
