Sora: OpenAI shows cinema-quality AI video
In one sentence OpenAI announces Sora, a text-to-video model producing 1080p clips up to 60 seconds with temporal consistency, plausible physics, and realistic camera moves. Limited release to red-teamers and selected artists.
OpenAI publishes a gallery of striking videos: a woman walking in Tokyo, cats playing, animated dinosaurs. All generated from a single text prompt, up to a minute, high resolution.
Visual quality is a planet away from prior text-to-video (Runway, Pika). The model seems to "understand" physics: objects falling plausibly, coherent shadows, surface reflections.
It's not public. For almost a year only selected red-teamers and artists have access. But the demo shifts the perception of "AI video": from gimmick to potentially serious production tool.
