AlphaFold 3: from protein structure to all of life's molecular interactions
In one sentence DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs publish AlphaFold 3 in Nature: it predicts the structure and interactions of proteins, DNA, RNA, ligands, and ions — vastly extending the domain beyond AlphaFold 2.
AlphaFold 2, back in 2020, essentially solved a problem biologists had worked on for decades: figuring out how a protein "folds" knowing only its amino-acid sequence.
AlphaFold 3 does much more: it doesn't just predict the shape of a single protein, but how it interacts with other molecules — DNA, RNA, small molecules like drugs, ions. That's the level needed for real drug discovery.
DeepMind and Isomorphic Labs publish it in Nature and make it accessible via a free web server for research, with daily usage limits.
