Agno (formerly Phidata): lightweight, multimodal agent framework 10x faster
In one sentence Agno, renamed from Phidata, is a model-agnostic Python agent framework with modular memory, storage, tools and knowledge base, native multimodal support, and performance 10x better than LangChain.
Agno started as Phidata and was renamed after a deep rewrite. The goal is to build AI agents without the complexity and weight of LangChain: fewer dependencies, faster startup, simpler structure to understand and modify.
The framework natively supports text, images, audio, and video without additional plugins. Memory is modular: you can choose between in-session memory, persistent database storage, or vector knowledge base according to your needs.
Internal benchmarks show agent creation times up to 10 times lower than LangChain for common use cases, with significantly reduced memory footprint.
