FLUX.1: the new open standard for photorealistic image generation
In one sentence Black Forest Labs launches FLUX.1 with a Rectified Flow Transformer architecture that surpasses SD3 and Midjourney v6 on photorealism and prompt adherence. The [dev] weights are released under Apache 2.0.
Black Forest Labs was founded by the original authors of Stable Diffusion, and their first model, FLUX.1, immediately sets a new reference point in image generation. Visual results surpass Midjourney v6 and Stable Diffusion 3 on almost every evaluation dimension.
Photorealism is the main strength: generated images have a consistency of lighting, texture, and proportions that brings them very close to real photography. Text in images is readable. Composition faithfully follows prompt instructions.
The decision to release the [dev] variant weights under Apache 2.0 made FLUX.1 the open-source reference model of the year, integrated within days into ComfyUI, A1111, and all major community tools.
