Stable Diffusion 3.5: 8B parameters, open weights, and new community license

Stable Diffusion 3 had disappointed many on release: weights were initially limited to non-commercial use and quality didn't seem worth the months of waiting. SD 3.5 is an important step to correct course.

The Large variant has 8 billion parameters and produces images with markedly improved prompt adherence: write a complex scene with many elements and the model reproduces them all with greater fidelity. The Large Turbo variant cuts generation time with just 4 inference steps, similar to Latent Consistency Models.

The most important news is the license: Stability AI introduces a new "Stability AI Community License" allowing commercial use up to one million dollars in annual revenue without royalties. For 99% of developers and creators, it's essentially free.
