OpenAI Canvas: Collaborative AI Editing Workspace in ChatGPT

OpenAI launched Canvas, a new mode inside ChatGPT that changes how you work on documents and code. Until now, ChatGPT returned text for you to copy elsewhere. With Canvas, you get a real side-by-side editor: you and the model edit the same document together, in real time. If you're writing an article or code, you can select a specific section and ask the AI to improve just that part without touching the rest. Changes are shown as tracked edits (like Word with revision tracking on), so you can see exactly what changed and accept or reject each modification. For Python code, there's also direct execution: run the code inside Canvas and see the output inline. Five million users used Canvas in the first week. It's OpenAI's answer to tools like Cursor and Google Docs, but with AI baked natively into the editor.
