Claude Cowork lands on web and mobile: agentic tasks move to the cloud
In one sentence Anthropic extends Cowork beyond the desktop app: beta on claude.ai, iPhone, iPad, and Android starting with the Max plan, with server-side task execution that continues while devices are offline and explicit approval before outputs are published.
Claude Cowork is Anthropic's environment where the AI does not just answer but actually works: organizing files, preparing documents, driving long multi-step chores. Until now, though, it lived only inside the desktop app for macOS and Windows: close your laptop and the work stopped with you.
From July 7 that logic flips. Cowork arrives in beta on the web (claude.ai) and in the iPhone, iPad, and Android apps, starting with Max plan subscribers on a gradual rollout. The real change is not the extra app but where the work runs: tasks execute on Anthropic's servers, so they keep going even when your computer is off or offline.
The everyday scenario: you kick off a task at your desk, head out, and from your phone you check progress, answer a question from the agent, or approve the next step. Before anything is published or sent, Cowork still asks for the user's approval — the autonomy stays supervised.
It is the same path already seen with coding tools, where agents migrated from the local terminal to the cloud. Now it is general office work's turn: the agent stops being a program open on your PC and becomes a service that follows you to any screen.
