In one sentence Tesla releases the first video of Optimus Gen 1 walking and performing tasks autonomously in a real factory environment, with a stated target price of 20,000 dollars.
Tesla showed its humanoid robot Optimus walking on its own in a real factory and performing some operations. It's not teleoperated: the robot decides its movements autonomously using the same cameras and AI Tesla uses for its cars.
Elon Musk stated a target price of around 20,000 dollars, much less than any other humanoid robot on the market. The idea is to produce it in the same factory that builds Teslas, using automotive economies of scale.
It's too early to judge real capabilities, but the fact that Tesla — a company producing millions of vehicles — enters the humanoid market changes scale expectations.
