Unitree H1 Ultra: the first humanoid accessible for academic research
In one sentence Unitree launches H1 Ultra at 90,000 dollars: RL-based locomotion humanoid capable of backflips and 3.3 m/s, the first bipedal robot accessible to university labs.
Unitree H1 Ultra is a humanoid robot that walks, runs up to 3.3 meters per second, and can do a backflip. The novelty isn't just speed but price: 90,000 dollars, ten times less than similar humanoids.
This price opens the humanoid robot market to universities and research labs, which until now couldn't afford hardware platforms of this type. Before H1, humanoid research required corporate partnerships or million-dollar budgets.
The locomotion is based on reinforcement learning: the robot learned to move through millions of computer simulations, not by following hand-programmed rules.
