NVIDIA GR00T: foundation model for humanoid robots with Isaac Sim
In one sentence NVIDIA launches GR00T, a foundation model for humanoids trained on synthetic and human data, released with the Isaac Sim ecosystem for photorealistic simulation and robot training.
NVIDIA introduced GR00T (Generalist Robot 00 Technology), a foundation model designed specifically for humanoid robots. GR00T learns by watching videos of humans performing everyday actions, then transfers that knowledge to the robot's body.
The interesting part is that NVIDIA uses extremely realistic computer simulations (Isaac Sim) to generate millions of training situations that would be impossible to collect in the physical world. This drastically reduces training time and cost.
GR00T is distributed as an open platform: humanoid robot manufacturers can use it as a starting point instead of training a model from scratch.
