NVIDIA Project DIGITS: 1 PFLOP FP4 and 128 GB on the desk, announced at $3,000

At CES 2025 NVIDIA showed a desk-sized box, roughly a Mac mini, containing the same CPU + GPU pairing that lives in its servers: Project DIGITS. The pitch was simple and genuinely new — run large AI models at home or in the office, with nothing going to the cloud, for $3,000.
The chip is called GB10 and was designed with MediaTek: it fuses a Grace CPU and a Blackwell GPU into one package. The 128 GB of memory is shared between the two, and that is the number that matters: it is enough to hold a model of roughly 200 billion parameters. Link two units together over a ConnectX network adapter and you reach Llama 3.1 at 405 billion parameters, the reference open model of the time.
Then there is the part a keynote does not show: the calendar. NVIDIA pointed to May 2025 for availability. The product was renamed DGX Spark in March 2025 and reached the market on 15 October 2025, with the list price rising first to $3,999 and later to $4,699. It remains an important announcement — the moment local AI stopped being a hobby — but it arrived nine months after the announcement, five past the promised date, and at a different price than the one on stage.
